Aurora Wallet Updates, Release Notes & Product Roadmap

This page is the official record of Aurora Wallet releases from the Auroracoin Foundation. Every version, every change, every fix — documented here in plain language, so you always know exactly what is running on your computer and why. If you ever see an "update" announced anywhere else first, treat it with suspicion: this page and the official download page are the authoritative sources.

Current release: Aurora Wallet v2026.08.1.0

The first release of the modern Aurora Wallet for Windows, macOS and Linux. This release replaces the legacy Auroracoin Core Qt client as the recommended desktop wallet for everyday use.

Highlights:

Downloads, system requirements and SHA-256 checksums for this release are on the official download page.

  • Modern interface. A clean, fast design built for everyday sending, receiving and balance checking — replacing the dated Qt interface of the original 2014-era client.
  • Reliable network connection. Multi-node peer discovery with automatic failover, designed to end the "stuck at 0 connections" problem that plagued legacy wallets.
  • Clear synchronization. Headers-first sync with a plain-language progress indicator, so you always know what the wallet is doing and how long it will take.
  • Guided backup. A step-by-step recovery phrase flow built on the BIP-39 standard, with confirmation checks to make sure your backup actually works before you rely on it.
  • Readable history. Labeled, dated transaction history designed to make mining payouts and everyday payments easy to track.

How to update Aurora Wallet

Updating is designed to be boring — in the best possible way:

You never need to re-enter your recovery phrase to update. Any update process that asks for your seed words is a scam — close it immediately.

  1. Check this page for the latest version and what changed.
  2. Download the new installer from the official download page — and only from there.
  3. Verify the checksum against the value published on the download page. This takes under a minute and proves the file is genuine.
  4. Install over the top. Your wallet data, addresses and recovery phrase are stored separately from the application and are not touched by updates.
  5. Open the wallet and confirm the version number matches this page.

Our release philosophy

Documented, always. Every release ships with notes on this page explaining what changed and why. No silent updates, no mystery versions.

Verified, always. Every installer is published with a SHA-256 checksum on the download page. We encourage every user to verify before installing, and our platform guides show how.

Announced in one place. New versions are announced here first. We do not push update notifications through social media messages, emails with download links, or pop-ups on third-party sites.

Backward compatible where it matters. Your wallet data and recovery phrase remain valid across updates. You should never need to move funds just because the software improved.

Roadmap: what we are working on

The features below are in design or development, informed directly by research into the problems Auroracoin users have reported over the years. They are listed as planned until they ship in a numbered release above.

Have a problem these do not cover? The troubleshooting guides on this site document the most common issues and their solutions, and each one explains how Aurora Wallet is designed to prevent it.

  • Legacy import tools. Guided sweeping of old wallet.dat files and paper wallet keys into a modern recovery-phrase wallet, so long-term holders can migrate without command-line work.
  • Startup self-checks. Automatic detection of common failure states — corrupted data, stale peers, interrupted sync — with one-click repair instead of manual file deletion.
  • Fee guidance. Clearer transaction fee estimation so payments confirm promptly without overpaying.
  • One-click resync. A safe, guided rebuild of local blockchain data for users recovering from chain splits, without touching wallet keys.

Version history

v2026.08.1.0 — Initial release of the modern Aurora Wallet. Windows, macOS and Linux. See highlights above.

Earlier desktop software for Auroracoin — the legacy Auroracoin Core Qt client and community Electrum forks — is documented in our migration guides for users moving to Aurora Wallet.

Frequently asked questions

How will I know when a new version is out? Check this page. It is updated with every release, and it is the only announcement channel you need to trust.

Do I have to update? Updates are not forced, but we recommend staying current — each release includes reliability and security improvements. Your wallet keeps working either way.

Will updating delete my coins? No. Your coins live on the blockchain, and your wallet data is stored separately from the application. Updating the software never touches your balance or your recovery phrase.

I saw an update link on social media. Should I use it? No. Download updates only from the official download page on auroracoin.net. Links in messages, ads and social posts are a classic phishing pattern.
