Auroracoin Transaction Pending or Stuck: What to Check

You sent Auroracoin, and the transaction is sitting at "0 confirmations", "pending" or "unconfirmed". Maybe the person you paid says nothing has arrived. This guide explains what confirmations are, why a transaction can stay pending and what to check before you try sending again.

The most important rule: do not keep re-sending the same payment while the first one is still pending. You could end up paying twice.

What confirmations mean

When you send AUR, your wallet broadcasts the transaction to the Auroracoin network. It then waits to be included in a block. Once it is in a block, it has one confirmation. Each new block added afterwards adds another confirmation.

Until a transaction has at least one confirmation, it is pending. Most wallets and services wait for several confirmations before treating a payment as final.

Why a transaction can stay pending

1

Your wallet is not synced or connected

If your wallet is not connected to the network, or is still catching up, your transaction may never have reached other nodes. It only exists in your wallet. Check your connection count and sync status first. See our sync guide.

2

Your wallet is on the wrong chain

An outdated wallet following an abandoned branch can create transactions that the rest of the network never accepts. See our chain split guide.

3

The fee was too low

Transactions include a small fee. If the fee is lower than what the network normally accepts, the transaction may wait a long time or never be picked up.

4

The network is quiet or busy

Confirmation time depends on how quickly new blocks are found. Sometimes blocks arrive more slowly than usual, so confirmations take longer.

5

It depends on another unconfirmed payment

If you spent coins that you received in a payment which is itself still unconfirmed, your transaction has to wait for that one first.

What to do: step by step

  1. 1

    Copy the transaction ID

In your wallet's transaction history, open the stuck payment and copy its transaction ID (sometimes called TXID or hash). It is a long string of letters and numbers.

  2. 2

Look it up on a block explorer

Paste the transaction ID into an Auroracoin block explorer. There are three possibilities:

    • It shows confirmations. The payment went through. The receiver may just need to wait or refresh their wallet.
    • It shows as unconfirmed. The network knows about it, but it is not in a block yet. Usually you just need to wait.
    • It is not found. The transaction probably never left your wallet. Your coins have not moved on the blockchain.
  3. 3

Check your wallet's connection and sync

If the explorer cannot find your transaction, make sure your wallet is connected and fully synced. Restart it and let it catch up. Many wallets rebroadcast pending transactions automatically once connected.

  4. 4

    Wait before trying again

Give the transaction time. Do not send a second payment until you are sure the first one will not confirm.

  5. 5

    If it never confirms

If a transaction stays unknown to the network for a long time, your coins are still in your wallet according to the blockchain. Some wallets let you abandon or clear a transaction that never broadcast. Back up your wallet first, and only send again once the old one no longer shows as pending.

How Aurora Wallet is designed to make payments clearer

Aurora Wallet, the new official desktop wallet for Auroracoin, is designed to make sending less stressful:

Options for speeding up a stuck payment after sending are still being evaluated by the development team, so we do not promise them here. See Updates for release details.

  • Fee guidance. Suggest a sensible fee and explain what it means, instead of leaving you to guess.
  • Readable history. Show each payment's status in plain language: sending, waiting for confirmation, confirmed.
  • Easy explorer link. Let you open a transaction's public record with one click.
  • Connection check before sending. Warn you if the wallet is not connected or synced before you send.

Frequently asked questions

Are my coins lost if a transaction is stuck? No. Either the payment will confirm, or it never reached the blockchain and the coins remain yours.

How many confirmations do I need? It depends on who you are paying. Exchanges and merchants set their own requirements. Ask them.

Should I send the payment again? Not while the first is still pending. Check a block explorer first to avoid paying twice.

I sent AUR to the wrong address. Can I cancel it? Once a transaction is confirmed, it cannot be reversed. Always double-check addresses before sending.

Someone offered to "unstick" my transaction for a fee. Is it safe? No. Never share your recovery words, private keys or wallet file, and never pay strangers to recover a transaction.
